Fossa Sofa by Aurelien Barbry for COR

Copenhagen-based French designer Aurelien Barbry has designed the Fossa sofa for COR. It’s a lounger or a sofa — even a sectional, depending on how to arrange it. Fossa is flexible and functions according to the principle of change: cushion elements find a place in recesses where they are inserted, moved or removed. In doing so, another new piece of furniture is created for relaxing, reading, listening to music, alone, etc.

Lake Forest Park Renovation

This top-to-bottom renovation of a 1950’s northwest contemporary house located on a wooded property about 25 miles north of Seattle by Finne Architects looks like heaven. Secluded on a wooden lot, the extensive use of windows reminds me of a fictional meeting between Philip Johnson and Davy Crockett.

Fabulous Kitchen Designs

We had a dinner party the other day and we found that everyone just gravitated toward the kitchen, and stayed there! If you think about it, the kitchen is probably one of the most used rooms in the house. Well, in our house anyway.

Since we're feeling lazy this week, we thought we just lift material from other sources and show you some amazing kitchen designs.  Hope you'll enjoy them!

Mood Swings Apartment Store in Moscow

Mood Swings Apartment Store

This unusual interior was created for Mood Swings Apartment Store in Moscow with the help of Fredrick Nilsby and Cyril Duva. The concept was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. There are four spaces divided by different types of wishes a fashion-savvy woman would look for: Simple, Classic, Funny and Avantgarde. These symbols of a woman’s moods embrace the costumers from the minute they walk in.

Decorating in Neutral Colors

We love, love Reed Krakoff clothes.  Have you seen it? He does amazing American sportswear.  Classic, comfortable, and sooo classy...

What strikes us most about the below ad is how pretty the neutral room looks though. It's classic, modern and timeless.  Like a perfect black dress.

For neutral, classic furniture like this, we like Bolier upholstery. Really pricey, but they are beautiful in person.

Here are some examples:

Designer Clock “Order in Chaos”

clock

We’ve already shown you collection of creative clocks but this interesting clock is worthy for additional attention. It’s called “Order in Chaos” and was created by talanted designer Igor Barbashin. At first glance it is total mess and it’s even hard to find a single number. But principle of this clock is quite unique: the fragments of numbers unite in their hour and then gradually fall to pieces again. The only way to define the time is to find the least broken number. As author says “this clock is an example of a strange relationship between order and chaos.”

Living in a Mansion

Don't you love reading about how other people live? Rich people, specifically. It gives us a little escape and a little fantasy, don't you think?

If you haven't had a chance to read the NY Times today, check out this article about this couple living in a mansion in Newport. What interests us most about it was not that the house was grand, but how this couple--who seem really unpretentious--manage to live a very authentic life that reflects who they are. There's a quote in it that we love--"At some point you'll have to come to terms with who you are, however unpleasant, if you are going to be anything at all".

Not to mention the pictures are eye-candies too. To see the slide show, click here. To read the article, click here.
