Modern Concept of “Grain Rice” Shower

shower

Designer from Vietnam Khanh Hoa Vo Thi came up with an unique shower called "Rice Grain". It combines traditional values with modern technology. Body of the shower is made out of polymers, and lines cutted in the body create the effect of massiveness. LED panel is connected with an internal temperature sensors and displays the internal temperature of the shower. With touch screen control panel you can set the temperature of the shower, the magnitude of the jet shower and system of gyro-massage.

WhisperWood Wish List: Wooden Lockers

OH...MY...GOODNESS!

Look what Meridian Road uses to store her linens! Unbelievable!

She calls them her "lucky lockers." Why? There's a story...

I wish these were MY lucky lockers! I would certainly feel lucky to have them.
I completely adore them and am adding them to the WhisperWood Cottage Wish List.
If anyone has a set or knows where I can get some, please let me know!

sloppy and disorganized out

Sometimes it's hard to believe that it can be really nice when it looks like that sloppy and disorganized out. But if you have a consistent style and a gentle and consistent color scheme, it is just fine to not be so orderly. It still looks neat and harmonious out. Photos by photographer John stupid.

Fireplace Makeover: Phase 5 (The Reveal)

Well, here she be! The fireplace reveal. I apologize for the dark, moody photos in this post. I will be sure to take more on a bright and sunny day so that you can see the details of the fireplace area better. I hope you can get an overall idea of what we were going for.

Here she was before...

first an okay corner, then a hole in the wall...

and after...

a functional wall with added storage and a touch of cottage character...

Framed by two cabinets with extra storage, the fireplace and flat panel tv work together to create a focal point.

Thrifted chairs received handsome new slipcovers (courtesy dear Mom) in an inexpensive fabric with a linen look.

Lights were added to the cabinetry to spotlight unique collections and favorite finds.

Shapely vintage fans form a collection in the right-hand cabinet.

Footed urns from Home Goods & an heirloom German clock are at home in the left-hand cabinet, which also holds those necessary but not so attractive electronic components.

Blues, whites, and browns make for a summery color palette.

We still have some things to finish off...a slab of stone for the hearth and one for atop the mantle. I'm think marble...something akin to carrera...white with the black/gray striae. It would coordinate with another marble tabletop that I have in the room. Do you think that would work?

pram

Pram is very simple thing. What else could be invented? But according to designers Jeong Haedong & Bae Junseong modern prams do not have enough simplicity and functionality. They have created a wonderful model- transformer, ready to serve to his little master for a long time. Lightweight and compact it combines the four necessary things that you usually need to buy separately – the pram itself, car seat, bicycle and even shopping cart.

Ralph Lauren's Decor Style

Did you see the spread in last month Elle Decor on Ralph Lauren?  His place is to die for, seriously.

Ralph Lauren has been around for so long. We remember saving up for a set of his paisley bedsheets in the 80S! His style evolves a bit, but not much. We suppose that's why they call it classic, right?

Here are some pictures from Elle Decor in case you haven't seen them.

We've just added Ralph Lauren fabrics and Ralph Laruen wallpapers to our fabric store.  You can check them out here .

Inspirational Decorating Photos

We would like to make a little announcement today. A few months back we announced the launch of Digging Decor, which originally was conceived as a design blog.

As the months went by, we decided the better approach was to re-design it as a  decorating community site, with the focus on decorating photos.

If you're anything like us, you rather look at the pictures than read the text, right?  The goal for the site is to be the largest library of decorating photos, all well-indexed and well-categorized for easy searching with proper credit given to the original source.

We hate to toot our own horn, but the site is quite lovely and quite sleek.  In addition to having tons of pictures, you can also join the community to ask fellow members questions like-- how to do this, where to find what etc.  You can also post your own blog, upload picture of your favorite room, and get updated on deals and designed-related events.

We would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it if you come visit the site, and better yet, be a part of our community and submit your favorite decorating photos.  Thanks in advance!

New Online Design Magazines

Online decorating magazines seem to be a growing sector, starting with the success of Lonny.

There are a couple of new ones that you might want to check out.  The first one is Adore Home, which is an Australian online magazine.  The content is a bit thin for the first issue, but it looks like it has potential.

The second one is Rue Magazine.  This one is huge (over 200 pages). The first issue has a large section devoted to design blogs.  This one seems really exciting if they can keep up the content.
