Creativity can mean using an object as is, using an object in a new way, revamping an object to create something new, displaying an object in an attractive way, combining multiple objects to create a new object, etc. One of the girls on the Red Shed trip (Christy, I think) actually welds pieces to create works of art. Get a copy of one of the JunkMarket books or start visiting some of the blogs recommended at the left to see all the fabulous things junkers are doing! The possibilities are endless!
The upcoming photos from the Junk Bonanza, Sweet Salvage, Buffalo Nickel Antiques, and other Buffalo shops show the types of things that catch my eye or inspire me. As you will notice, I am drawn to industrial objects, metal pieces, things with casters, signs of all kinds, items with numbers, and fabrics with great vintage color. I especially like things with a history or interesting story behind them.
What do I do with the items I purchase? Well, most of what I do is clean things up, display them creatively, give them new purposes, and enjoy them for their beauty and functionality.I usually buy things that are functional in some way, so that I can use them on a regular basis. Some items are given as gifts. RJNJ and I are just beginning to actually create things. Of course, I will post any projects we do. I have several great posts planned already! :)
NOW IT'S YOUR TURN...
DO YOU AGREE THAT CREATIVITY IS PART OF JUNKING? WHAT THINGS CATCH YOUR EYE OR INSPIRE YOU? WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR JUNK FINDS?
