ESTATE SALE 1
I did make it out the door on Saturday to a couple of estate sales and one church garage sale. The first estate sale was a complete bust. I guess you never know unless you go though, right?
ESTATE SALE 2
The second estate sale turned out some small finds. The first was a box of colorful pieces that look like small shoe stretchers. Can anyone confirm that's what they are?
I also found two games: Memory and Yahtzee. Both of these games bring back extremely fond memories of my childhood. I remember playing Memory a lot. Oddly enough, we did not own the game. I believe my cousin Kelly did. The pictures on the Memory game pieces are the exact ones we played with...that would date the game to late 70s or early 80s. As I was not feeling particularly energetic today, I pulled out the Memory game and played a game by myself. It is only missing one pair of game pieces...it's nice that the previous owners lost 2 of the same picture!
From what I remember, Yahtzee was a must on my dad's side of the family...every weekend visit, every holiday, etc. The adults were hardcore! Imagine Grandma Maggie with a can of beer in one hand and the Yahtzee shaker in the other! One of my favorite times was when Grandma Maggie and I would sit and play the game...just the two of us. I was probably only nine or so. I swear that woman could roll any numbers she wanted. She was amazing!
The fun didn't stop there! Inside the Yahtzee box was another suprise! "Dice Fun!" It included a complete set of 10 wooden dice, a shaker, and an instruction pamphlet for 26 different dice games. I've never heard of any of them! Aren't those wooden dice the coolest?
CHURCH GARAGE SALE
On the way home, I stopped at a church garage sale only about a mile from my house. I had seen the sign earlier that day but had decided to stop on my way back. I found an old fluted jar with a "cereal" label on it and two boxes of small and extra small ceramic flower pots. I recall Sue Whitney at JunkMarket recommending buying things in multiples. (See, Sue, you're in my head!) I thought the flower pots might make for a fun project. If you have any ideas, please let me know...
JUNK SHED UPDATE
Okay, Margo, as you requested...here is a photo inside the junk shed. We laid four industrial carts together side by side to keep items off the ground. I had picked up the industrial carts at a garage sale in August or September. I loaded our outdoor furniture to the back, then put items for the flea market in the middle, and then items that will be worked on over the winter at the front. I kept a walkway on the side so that items could be accessed if necessary. What do you think?
