New Junk Shed!

This one's for you, Margo! You once asked me where I store all the junk I've been finding. To this point, it has been in the garage. Yes, we have a fairly good-sized garage, so the cars still fit in it despite all my treasures. I'll post some of the organizational strategies we've used in the garage at a future date. But for now, I'm going to share with you what my dear, creative, wonderful hubby did! He created...

THE JUNK SHED!

Now, what is a junk shed? It is a masterpiece of craftsmanship made out of completely used materials. In other words...it was all free! It's the ultimate junking project! Using junk to store junk...it has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Here's is what was used...
  • existing unused dog kennel next to our garage for the structure
  • used galvanized tin panels lying in a field next to an old barn for the siding and roof
  • used galvanized pipe from the "cart corrals" you would find in a shopping center parking lot for the trusses
  • screws we already owned to attach the panels
  • tube of silicone we already owned to fill the screw holes

Here's the before...

Here's the fine junkyard welding craftsmanship on the trusses...

Here's the incredible Junk Shed crafted by RJNJ...

I think my husband is the ultimate junker! Don't you agree? My dear Texas friend, Sarah, would describe him as "crafty." I agree. Thanks, honey!!!

P.S. The neighbor asked when we were going to paint it. RJNJ told him "We did! We just put clear coat on it!" (We really didn't, but the neighbor's reaction was priceless! We're still laughing over it!) RJNJ and I agree that it is gorgeous in all it rusty patina. I wouldn't change a thing!

Now, down the road, we are considering building a permanent workshop to which all the junk would go. Then the junk shed might be converted to a sauna. Come on workshop!
