Upcycling: Coaster into Holiday Ornament

WHAT IS UPCYCLING?

Upcycling is a key part of junking. According to Wikipedia, upcycling is "a component of sustainability in which waste materials are used to provide new products." Check out sites (such as JUNKMARKET) for all kinds of creative upcycled projects submitted by people all over the country. Have you upcycled lately?

UPCYCLED PROJECT: COASTER INTO HOLIDAY ORNAMENT

Remember that tray and coaster set I picked up on my Junking Weekend, November 22-23? It's that silver set on the right with the star in middle of each of the four coasters and the tray.

HERE'S THE BEFORE...

Well, I wondered, "How would these look as ornaments?" I wove a piece of ribbon (which I had to rummage around the house to find!) into the slits around the coaster rim. I "borrowed" a crystal from a candle holder I have and tada!...A gloriously simple ornament! Hung in the window, it catches the sunlight beautifully!

ANSWER TO GAME PIECES QUESTION

Also included in my Junking Weekend, November 22-23, post was a question about these game pieces...

The correct answers are: (1) Dominoes, (2) Monopoly, and (3) UNO Wild Tiles. It's okay...I had never heard of that third one either. I liked the game pieces though. I thought they would be fun for a project of some sort.
