Junking Weekend, January 31-February 1, 2009

My, oh, my! Spring is on my mind! I am attracted to all things floral and gardeny. I just love it all! Want to see what I mean? Well, let me tell you about my finds from a couple weekends ago...

Antique Store #1

Who could not fall in love with this beautiful piece of tolework?
The glory! The patina! Love at first sight! A fabulous candelabra/sconce!

And what about this glorious set of metal flower candlesticks?
Whoa is me! I did not know such feelings could exist! The spring is calling!

One last find that sends my heart a-flutter...a treasure of a birdbath!
Can you hear the angels singing? Melt, snow, melt!

Antique Store #2

First, let me preface this by saying that I have been looking for a pair of chairs for the longest time. No, not two chairs that coordinate but an actual set of matching chairs. Armless. To go in front of the fireplace.

My inspiration...the Pottery Barn Brooks Slipcovered Chair...$729.00 each
I love the style of this chair! And the love the idea of changing out slipcovers. What don't I love? The price! Sorry, Pottery Barn! I still love you though!

My solution...Pair of Armless Bergere Chairs...10% of the price of 2 PB chairs.
The legs are a bit more traditional in style than the PB chairs, but they work in my house. The floral print on these chairs is a bit dated and not my style at all. Will they stay that way? No way!!

Imagine...
Slipcovered in white, or linen, or a beautiful pattern! Such a simple fix will make it the perfect fit...pricewise and stylewise. Uh, wait, I'm not a very good seamstress (though I can now sew on a button all by myself!). Mom...help?!

P.S. Ignore the fireplace! It has plans for a makeover, too.
